Most wigs in our range also arrive with the lace pre-cut. For wigs where the lace has not been pre-cut, Hair City offers free lace cutting on every order — simply request this when placing your order and we will cut the lace for you at no charge before dispatch.

A pre-cut wig is a wig where the lace has already been trimmed to the hairline before it reaches you. On a standard lace wig, the lace extends beyond the hairline and needs to be carefully trimmed with scissors to sit flush against your skin — this can be tricky for beginners. Delivery to all South African addresses is free for orders over R1,200. For orders under R1,200 a flat delivery fee of R100 applies, regardless of where in South Africa you are located. All orders are shipped from our fulfilment centre in Johannesburg.

Yes. Customers are welcome to try on as many wigs as they like at our Mall of Africa and Menlyn Park branches at no charge. Our team of sales assistants and stylists will assist you in finding the right wig for your face shape, lifestyle and budget. For hygiene purposes all customers are asked to wear a wig cap when trying on wigs. Wig caps are available in-store at no charge.

Step 1 — Gently detangle using a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and working upward.
Step 2 — Rinse under cool running water from roots to tips.
Step 3 — Apply a small amount of sulphate-free shampoo and gently work through with fingers. Do not rub or scrub.
Step 4 — Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear.
Step 5 — Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, avoiding the lace and knot area. Leave for 3 to 5 minutes then rinse.
Step 6 — Gently press excess water out with a towel. Do not wring or twist.
Step 7 — Place on a wig stand and allow to air dry. Avoid blow drying where possible.

Most wig specialists recommend washing every 6 to 8 wears.

Most human hair wigs last between 1 and 2 years with proper care. Hair City's Brazilian range is rated at 1 year or more. Peruvian and Vietnamese ranges are rated at 1 to 2 years or more due to higher virgin hair quality. To maximise lifespan: wash every 6 to 8 wears using sulphate-free products, avoid excessive heat styling, store on a wig stand when not in use and bring in for a professional wig rejuvenation at our branches from R380 when needed.

Place your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head when not in use to maintain its shape and prevent tangling. For travel or longer-term storage, a Hair City wig travel bag is ideal — available at haircity.co.za/collections/travel-bags-hangers. Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Avoid folding or compressing the wig. Before storing, gently detangle and allow to fully dry.
